Fatima in Third Millennium coverIn his introduction the author points out that during the Great Jubilee of the Year 2000 Pope John Paul II carried out three acts of major importance with regard to Fatima.

They were the beatification of Jacinta and Francisco Marto on 13 May 2001 at Fatima, the revelation of the third part of the Secret of Fatima announced at the end of the same beatification Mass by Cardinal Sodano, Secretary of State, and presented to the public by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, on 26 June 2000 and the Act of Entrustment of the new millennium to Our Lady of 8 October 2000 by the Holy Father and over 1400 Bishops who had come to Rome for the celebration of the Jubilee for Bishops.

Within the limits imposed by the series of which this booklet is a part, Mr. Tindal-Robertson has once again done a great service for all those in the English-speaking world who want to follow the various ways in which the Holy Father continues to embrace the message of Fatima and propose it to the entire Church. The author has marshalled the facts and summarized them carefully while providing important citations from the relevant documents.

Consistent with other features of the Fatima message, the text of the secret, reproduced on pp. 29-30, strongly emphasizes Mary's unique mediatorial role and the call of all Christians to be coredeemers with her (in actu secundo) in applying to souls the benefits of the redemption. After continued consideration of the interpretations proffered by Cardinals Sodano (22) and Ratzinger (40) regarding the content of the third part of the "secret" of Fatima as pertaining to the last century, the reviewer still finds himself wondering if this prophetic word does not also have application to the present and the future.

In any case, The Catholic Truth Society should be congratulated for publishing this useful little work which is an important contribution to the history of the Church's on-going reception of the prophetic message given by Our Lady to the little Portuguese shepherds almost a century ago.
